New York and Company
This store was always somewhere i remember my mom shopping when i was younger so i was always under the impression that their clothes were mom clothes. So i didnt visit it very often. The style of clothes that were on display was light coats for spring, skirts in bright colors, and jewelry. The music playing was songs that you would here on a local pop radio station. This store also sells shoes, belts, under garmets, and purses. The sales people were very friendly and one of the girls that worked there i knew from a previous job. My perception of the store has changed from what it was before, they had things that i really like to wear because i have to dress up at my job and they had nice dress slacks and shirts that were perfect. I am really glad that i went to visit this store because i ended up buying and really nice Easter outfit. I will be shopping there more frequently.

Blog 8
Many americans choose a brand while they are shopping and like it and dont use any other but that brand. Maybe its because they want to belong to something and to have meaning. Americans today also dont welcome change into their lives very easily so once they established a brand they like they stick to it.
The few common elements in the persuasion and selling strategies of marketing were customization, target marketing, and experienced based marketing. The new Song airline made their whole campaigne to reach out to women and there needs. They created a woman who is a typical suburban mother who has children and a husband so that many women can relate and want to try this airline.
I believe that in the future advertising will be bigger then ever after all they are looking for new ways to "break through" and reach consumers. Consumers see thousands of ads a day its overwehlming. If the ad industry has taken it to a big extreme like they have at Madison ave then what is stopping them from doing that every where. Technology is getting better everyday and it will be neat to see what direction we do head in with advertising.

RAW Exhibits
I went and watched the group that blocked the cars from being able to get through the parking lot. It was great... the people in the cars were angry and were late for class. I think that it was really effective. It was a great idea, they got on top of their cars and were holding up signs about drunk driving and that binge drinking can lead to accidents. I think it was a great way to get students attention and raise their awarness about binge drinking.

My Laptop
When I looked around my room I saw my Dell laptop and thougth about how much time i spent picking it out. Five things that come to mind popular, reliable, build your own, warranty. What shaped my perception of this prduct was the commercials i saw them all the time, it said that you could build your own when you ordered it and it had a warranty on it that i couldnt pass up. If i dropped the computer, spilled something on it , or threw it they would replace it in the first three years. When i looked up what others thought about the computer on brandtags.net the top ten words were computer, cheap,pc, dude,crap, laptop,boring, dull,dell,old. Not the responses i expected because i love my dell laptop. I think that my perception is different because i have had my computer awhile and they have come out with different types of laptops since.

My Favorite Commercial
This is one of my favorites it always makes me laugh!! It catches my attention because he is blowing flames every time he talks. This ad made me want to go and try the Flamethrower from DQ. I think it is effective because people will want to see how good this burger is and if it is really that spicy!

My Goal For The Semester
This is my first semester at SIUC, and so far i love all of my classes!! My major is Speech Communication/Public Relations. My goal for this semester is to get finish my associates degree at John A Logan, make good grades in all of my classes at SIU, to get an internship for summer, make some new friendships, and to stay on top of my assignments.
